The capstone puts you at the front desk of a fictional practice for one week. It has three parts: a written simulation, the written exam, and a live assessment with our team.
Part 1: One week at the front desk (simulation)
You receive (fictional, no real patient data):
- Six new-patient inquiries with insurance details, one from a patient in another state
- A schedule with two late cancellations, a waitlist and an open intake slot
- Benefits results for each new patient, one needing prior authorization
- Three patient messages: a balance question, a declined card and a request for an itemized statement
Your deliverable, in a single document:
- Which inquiries you can book, with whom and when, and what you’d say to the one you can’t
- A written estimate for each new patient, in plain language
- How you fill the cancelled slots and apply the cancellation policy
- Replies to the three patient messages
- Your end-of-week handoff note to the practice manager
Part 2: The written exam
Fifteen questions covering the core and your track. You need 80% to pass, and one retake is included.
Part 3: The live assessment
A 30-minute video call with the Sharp team:
- A new-patient call (role-play): from first hello to a booked intake, including identity, insurance and the estimate.
- A balance call (role-play): a patient upset about a balance after a deductible reset. We look for verification, a clear explanation, empathy and a concrete next step.
- Your simulation: we’ll ask you to walk us through one decision you made.
You’ll get written feedback within three business days. Pass all three parts and you’re certified.
