Capstone & certification exam

Run a simulated practice for one month: schedule, staff issues, a denial spike and a payer audit. Then pass the written exam.

The capstone puts you in charge of a fictional practice for one month. It has three parts: a written simulation, the written exam, and a live assessment with our team.

Part 1: One month at Lakeside Therapy Group (simulation)

You receive the practice’s starting point (fictional, no real patient data):

  • Four clinicians, one of them starting next month and not yet credentialed
  • A schedule at 74% utilization, a waitlist of 23 people and a 14% no-show rate
  • Two front-desk staff, one with repeated intake mistakes
  • A billing report showing denials doubled this month
  • A payer letter requesting records for 15 sessions, due in 21 days

Your deliverable, in a single document:

  1. A plan to raise utilization and cut no-shows, with targets for next month
  2. A credentialing and caseload plan for the new clinician
  3. A short written plan for the coordinator’s performance conversation
  4. Your read of the denial spike and what you’d ask the billing team
  5. A step-by-step response to the payer audit with dates
  6. The owner’s monthly report: numbers, top three problems, decisions needed

Part 2: The written exam

Sixteen questions covering the core and your track. You need 80% to pass, and one retake is included.

Part 3: The live assessment

A 30-minute video call with the Sharp team:

  • The owner meeting (role-play): present your monthly report and answer questions about hiring another clinician.
  • A staff conversation (role-play): the coordinator from the simulation. We look for specific examples, fairness and an agreed plan.
  • Your simulation: we’ll ask you to defend one decision you made.

You’ll get written feedback within three business days. Pass all three parts and you’re certified.
